Power curbs on industrial estates cut from two days to one day a week, with full removal expected within three to four weeks

Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, deputy energy minister for electricity, said on Saturday, 1 August 2026 (10 Mordad 1405), that since the middle of last week power curbs on industrial estates have been reduced from two days to one day a week, and that the restriction barring steel plants (slab production) from operating on the night shift has been lifted.
He said that with arrangements made for some industries such as cement and rolling mills to move to night working, power restrictions are expected to be removed entirely within the next three to four weeks. Rajabi Mashhadi added that private operators account for more than 60 percent of the country's electricity generation and for all maintenance work on transmission lines and substations, and that the "green and free power board" has created a market with firm demand for electricity from thermal and renewable plants.
Summer power rationing weighs every year on output at energy-intensive industries including steel, cement and rolling, so easing it matters for the listed companies in those groups.

US embassies in six West Asian countries warn their citizens over possible escalation
On Saturday 1 August 2026, US embassies in Egypt, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Jordan warned of a possible escalation of tensions in West Asia and asked American citizens to be fully prepared to leave the region if conditions deteriorate. The notices widen the scope of Washington's earlier advisories to its nationals. The US embassy in Amman said in a security alert on X that Americans currently in the region should increase their caution and vigilance and be ready for flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures and possible travel disruption. Americans outside the region were advised to seriously reconsider travel to and transit through the area. The same statement asked US citizens to avoid travel to military bases in Jordan and to follow official alerts and the instructions of Jordanian authorities. Iran's first vice president says any attack on the country's infrastructure is a red line
Mohammad Mokhber, Iran's first vice president, issued a statement on the social network X on Saturday 1 August 2026 in response to recent threats by US President Donald Trump, describing any attack on the country's infrastructure as a red line. In the message Mokhber wrote: "You calculate with military equations, but we answer with the logic of history. An attack on Iran's infrastructure directly awakens the fault lines on which 250 years of your hegemonic architecture has been built." The statement came at a time when the threat of strikes on Iran's energy facilities has been one of the factors moving the currency, gold and oil markets in recent days. On the same day, the free market US dollar rate in Iran stood at 193,700 tomans, up 0.68 percent from the previous day.

Bank Saderat Iran waives late payment penalties from the systems outage period and refunds credit card charges
Bank Saderat Iran said on Saturday, 1 August 2026 (10 Mordad 1405), that with all of its systems back in service it has cancelled late payment penalties relating to the period when those systems were unstable. According to the bank's public relations office, penalties charged to credit card holders whose repayment deadlines fell in the one month window from 23 Khordad to 23 Tir 1405 (13 June to 14 July 2026) have been refunded automatically to customer accounts. Late payment penalties were also removed systemically for borrowers with loans and interest free qarz al hasaneh facilities maturing in under two months who paid their instalments by the end of Tir 1405 (22 July 2026). The bank listed a three month remote extension of Sepehr card expiry dates, faster loan processing and updated remote services on its Sepino neobank platform among its other remedial measures for the period. Bank Melli Iran had previously announced a similar package waiving late payment penalties.
