Competition Council Issues New Vehicle Pricing Directive With Competitiveness Index

Iran's Competition Council issued an updated passenger vehicle pricing directive, with amendments effective through September 15, 2026 (24 Shahrivar 1405). The key change introduces an A to F competitiveness index comparing each vehicle's price against at least three similar foreign models, and vehicles ranked F are barred from price increases. The directive also sets a minimum buyer age of 18 and bans proxy transfers of purchase allocations; electric vehicles are excluded.
