Active Bourse Shareholders Reach 1,012,195 Codes Last Week, With Individuals Accounting for 69.5 Percent of Trades

According to statistical reports from the Securities and Exchange Organization's bourse supervision department, relayed by Boursenews, the number of active equity-market shareholders last week (individual and institutional, excluding codes that traded in initial offerings) was 1,012,195 codes: 1,009,694 individual and 2,501 institutional.

The same report puts individuals' share of equity-market trading last week at 2,318,814 billion rials (69.5 percent), institutions' at 399,881 billion rials (12 percent) and equity funds' at 241,034 billion rials (7.2 percent). Chemical products, basic metals and banks were the three highest-turnover industries and together accounted for 43 percent of total market trading value.
