Arbaeen train tickets on Iran's busiest routes are selling for 700,000 to 3.16 million tomans
26 July 2026 | 3 months ago
According to a report published on Sunday, 26 July 2026, train tickets on some of the busiest Arbaeen routes, such as Tehran to Kermanshah and Tehran to Khorramshahr, are selling for between 700,000 tomans and 3.16 million tomans depending on the type of train.
The gap between the lowest and highest fares reflects differences in train class, from ordinary carriages to five star and bus style services.
Rail travel costs are a tangible consumer indicator for an Iranian audience: during Arbaeen the railway substitutes for part of the road journey, and its price, alongside bus fares and the fuel cost of driving, makes up a significant share of the household travel budget in this period. The number of people registered for the Arbaeen journey in the Samah system passed 2 million the same day.
