Banks and licensed exchanges required to buy back leftover Arbaeen pilgrims' dinars

According to Boursenews, published Thursday, August 6, 2026 (15 Mordad 1405), Iran's banking network and licensed currency exchanges have been required to buy back Iraqi dinars left over with pilgrims who traveled for the 1405 Arbaeen pilgrimage. Pilgrims seeking to sell their remaining dinar balances can do so with banks and licensed exchanges at a mutually agreed rate. Banks and exchanges are authorized to purchase this currency under the essential-needs category, though pilgrims have been advised to use licensed exchange offices rather than banks to speed up the process, since small-scale currency transactions are better suited to exchange operations.
