According to Bourse News, citing Investing.com, spot gold rose 0.7 percent to $4,398.92 an ounce on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 (21 Mordad 1405), while US gold futures gained 0.4 percent to $4,458.62, a move that came alongside rising global oil prices. Tgju.org's own feed put the ounce price near $4,411 the same day. Investors are now awaiting the US consumer price index report due the same day, followed by producer prices on Thursday, both of which could shape the Federal Reserve's rate path.
China's central bank added to its gold reserves for a 21st consecutive month in July, buying about 640,000 troy ounces to bring its total holdings to 76.08 million ounces. Tony Sycamore, a market analyst at IG, said gold's recent pullback from around $4,435 reflects profit-taking ahead of the inflation data. He said gold now faces resistance near $4,460, reinforced by the 200-day moving average around $4,495, and would need to clear both levels to open a sustained path toward $5,000.
