Following an order by Iran's minister of economic affairs and finance and a decision of the Privatisation Board, the sale of a 95 percent stake in the Haft Tappeh Agro Industry Company through the stock exchange has been cancelled. The report was published on the evening of Saturday, 1 August 2026 (10 Mordad 1405).
Under the decision, the company's shares have been transferred to Bank Melli Iran and Bank Saderat Iran. The member of parliament for Shush and Karkheh said that workers' rights had not been allowed to be overlooked before the ownership of Haft Tappeh was settled transparently and lawfully.
Haft Tappeh is one of Iran's best known privatisation cases. Settling the ownership of the agro industry complex matters both for the capital market and for its workers, because the way state owned enterprises are divested through the bourse is a live question in economic policy.
