The deputy energy minister for electricity and energy said on Wednesday, 14 Mordad 1405 (5 August 2026), in an interview with state broadcaster IRIB that no price change has been applied to electricity bills. He said the higher amounts on bills came from consumption above the set usage pattern by some subscribers.
He asked subscribers who dispute their bills to call the 121 service line or use the Barq e Man platform. The clarification followed reports of a jump in bills. According to an Eghtesad Online report the same day, some subscribers said their bills rose by 200 to 300 percent in Khordad and Tir 1405 (roughly June and July 2026), with one household that had paid about 300,000 tomans in Khordad receiving a bill of between 800,000 tomans and 1 million tomans in Tir.
Iran's electricity tariffs are tiered, so subscribers who exceed the set consumption ceiling move into higher tariff bands and are charged more for each unit they use.
