Mohsen Paknejad, Iran's oil minister, told the ministry's deputies council on Saturday 1 August 2026 that work on rebuilding the refineries damaged in the war is progressing in a positive and encouraging way. He spoke after hearing reports from the chief executives of the National Iranian Oil Company and the National Iranian Gas Company, and stressed that every part of the oil industry must take part in the projects in a coordinated way.
Reviewing the latest position on the third damaged refinery, he issued instructions to speed up the rebuilding work. He asked for the follow up meetings to continue in the coming weeks and for progress reports to keep being presented within a project management framework, so that the work can be tracked closely, decisions taken on time and obstacles cleared.
At the same meeting Sekhavat Asadi was introduced as head of the board of the oil industry pension funds. Asadi said about 110,000 people draw on the funds' services each month, and asked for the backing of the industry's senior management for the funds' programmes.
