Kermanshah's Three Arbaeen Border Crossings Had No Blackouts This Year After a 3,190 Billion Toman Power Investment

1 September 2026 | 2 months ago

At a ceremony inaugurating Kermanshah power-sector projects on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 (10 Shahrivar 1405), attended by the Energy Minister, the provincial governor and members of parliament, Jafar Alfatinia, CEO of the West Regional Electricity Company, announced 2,810 billion tomans in newly commissioned regional power projects plus 380 billion tomans in distribution works. Upgrades at the Qasr-e Shirin substation, which doubled capacity from two 15 MVA to two 30 MVA transformers, along with other projects, meant the Khosravi, Mehran and Shalamcheh border crossings ran through this year's Arbaeen pilgrimage without a single minute of blackout, with no demand management needed for cooling load. He also announced a new 3 megawatt solar plant, completing the province's third renewable-energy project under Iran's SATBA program, and noted that while parts of the grid were damaged in the twelve-day war and recent clashes, some 200 kilovolt lines were restored within three hours.
