Qasem Ravanbakhsh, the parliamentary representative for Qom, said at a public gathering in Qom on Friday, 30 Mordad 1405 (August 21, 2026), that the question of Iran's withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) has been raised and that Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, has taken a position on it. According to Ravanbakhsh, a bill on the matter has also been submitted to parliament and is being pursued. The remarks were reported separately by Khabar Online and Donya-e-Eqtesad (citing the Young Journalists Club).\n\nTwo days earlier, on Tuesday, 28 Mordad, Rezaei had told Al Jazeera that Iran has "waited too long already" and would leave the NPT if necessary. In the same speech, Ravanbakhsh also referred to gasoline pricing, saying that after the government's recent rationing decision, about 150 members of parliament objected to how it was implemented.
