Pakistan's foreign ministry said it is in contact with Iran and the United States to de-escalate tensions in the region. Ministry spokesman Tahir Andrabi told his weekly press briefing in Islamabad on Thursday 30 July 2026 that Pakistan is deeply concerned about the deteriorating security situation in the region and called on all parties to exercise restraint.
Andrabi said Pakistan is in contact with both Iran and the United States to halt hostilities and bring the parties back to an understanding, adding that this requires maximum restraint from all sides. He said Islamabad has been consulting continuously with regional leaders and wants the parties to return to the technical negotiating track. According to him, Pakistan does not want the ongoing war in the region to become protracted, and the hostilities should not draw in further parties.
At the same briefing, the spokesman rejected a German media claim regarding the safety of Pakistan's strategic and nuclear assets, saying Pakistan's strategic system has strong safety and standards and that Islamabad is confident in its commitments and responsibilities.
