According to the Iran Mercantile Exchange's weekly report, total trading in the commodity deposit certificate market and saffron based investment funds reached 448 billion toman in the week ending 9 Mordad 1405 (31 July 2026). The figure was published in a report on Sunday 2 August 2026 (11 Mordad 1405).
A commodity deposit certificate is an instrument whose holder owns a specified quantity of a commodity deposited in a warehouse approved by the exchange, and which can be bought and sold on the market like a security. Saffron, alongside gold and silver, is among the assets for which both deposit certificates and commodity investment funds have been established in Iran's capital market.
These instruments allow investment in saffron without the need to buy and store the physical crop, and their trading turnover is one of the gauges of investment demand for this agricultural product.
