Turkiye's Economic Confidence Index Climbs Above 100 in August

30 August 2026 · last month

According to official data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT), reported by Anadolu Agency on Friday, 6 Shahrivar 1405 (August 28, 2026), Turkiye's economic confidence index rose 0.8 percent from the previous month to 100.6 in August 2026, up from 99.8 in July. A reading above the 100 point threshold signals that optimism about the overall economic outlook now outweighs pessimism. The improvement was driven mainly by stronger consumer and manufacturer sentiment: the consumer confidence index rose 1 percent to 90.8, while the real sector (manufacturing) confidence index climbed 1.2 percent to 102.4.

By contrast, confidence eased slightly in services, retail trade and construction: the services confidence index slipped 0.1 percent to 111.9, retail trade confidence fell 0.8 percent to 110.1, and construction confidence, still the weakest of the sectoral readings, dropped 0.4 percent to 83.1. The data came as the Turkish lira has traded near the 48 per dollar level in recent weeks, with Turkiye remaining a major travel and trade destination for Iranians.
