Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 Sinks 2.12% After Trump Declares Iran Ceasefire Over

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed down 307.41 points (2.12%) at 14,189.96 on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, after falling as low as 14,179.01 intraday, according to Anadolu Agency. The drop came immediately after President Trump told the NATO summit in Ankara that the US-Iran ceasefire was "over" and that the US would strike Iran again that night. Banking and transportation shares led sector losses on the Turkish exchange. The move illustrates how the Iran-US war is spilling directly into Turkish equities, a major trade and transit partner for Iran.
