EU MiCA transitional period for crypto-asset service providers ends
The EU-wide transitional period that allowed crypto-asset service providers to operate under national licenses ahead of full Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) authorization ended on July 1, 2026. Providing crypto-asset services in the EU without MiCA authorization after this date is a breach of EU law.

SEC comment deadline on novel ETF rules (Release No. 33-11426)
The US Securities and Exchange Commission opened a 60-day public comment period on novel exchange-traded funds, including crypto and prediction-market related products, under Release No. 33-11426, published in the Federal Register on July 2, 2026, with the comment deadline falling around August 31, 2026. GENIUS Act stablecoin rules finalization deadline
Under the US GENIUS Act, six federal regulators (OCC, FDIC, NCUA, Treasury, FinCEN and OFAC) were required to finalize rules for dollar backed stablecoin issuers by 18 July 2026, a framework that could affect regulatory clarity for stablecoins such as USDT used in informal Iranian currency trading. By the deadline none had issued final rules; only proposed rules were published, pushing finalization toward late 2026 or early 2027.
