Gholamreza Goudarzi, head of the Statistical Centre of Iran, said field operations of the 1405 general population and housing census will start across the country on 2 Aban 1405 (24 October 2026). Before that, an online, non-in-person phase to complete information and verify data runs from 25 Mehr 1405 (17 October 2026). He said the cost of this round is more than 90 percent lower than for the 1395 census.
