The window for transiting fuel from Iraq's Kurdistan Region to Afghanistan across Iranian territory, previously set to close on 13 July 2026, has been extended to 14 October 2026. Ghasem Habibpour, secretary of Iran's Association of International Transport Companies, announced it in a letter published by Mehr News Agency on 2 August 2026. Use of the window requires a fuel standards compliance certificate from Afghanistan.
