200,000 Ton Steel Billet Plant Opens in Abhar With 8,000 Billion Toman Investment

A steel billet plant operated by Zob Ahan Farayand Karan Norin opened in Abhar, Zanjan province, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, with Mohammad Jafar Qaempanah, the president's executive deputy, in attendance. According to Khabaronline, the plant has an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of steel billet and required an investment of 8,000 billion tomans plus $25 million. Its launch has created jobs for 240 people.
The billet produced at the plant serves as a raw material for downstream industries including automaking and construction, and the launch is part of completing Zanjan province's steel production chain. At the ceremony, Qaempanah cited the country's economic and military conditions in stressing the need to support industrial investors and workers.
