The UAE's Maritime Affairs Department at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure announced on Wednesday, 15 Mehr 1405 (October 7, 2026), that 472 vessels are barred from using the country's port services. The department gave no specific reason for the ban, but according to Fars News Agency, as relayed by EcoIran, a review found that most of the affected vessels are either linked to Iran or have used Iranian routes to transit the Strait of Hormuz. The announcement comes amid a recent intensification of attacks on tankers crossing the strait.
