861,000 people registered for 53,900 cars as Iran Khodro applicants fell 49 percent in a month

3 August 2026 · 2 months ago

In the fourteenth round of Iran Khodro's sales scheme, 861,285 people registered to buy 53,900 vehicles, putting each applicant's chance of winning at about 6.2 percent. The figures were published in a report on Monday 3 August 2026 (12 Mordad 1405).

The striking feature of this round is the fall in the number of applicants. In the previous round, held at the start of Tir, more than 1.7 million people took part, so registrations fell about 49.4 percent in the space of a month. In the twelfth sales round in Bahman last year applicants numbered about 6.8 million, and in the eleventh round in Dey about 10 million, meaning demand has fallen more than 91 percent against the Dey level.

Market analysts attribute the change mainly to higher factory prices and the narrowing gap between factory and open market prices, which they say has substantially reduced speculative incentives.
