A tanker loading at a CPC floating terminal was hit by a drone, as Ukraine claims strikes on five Russian tankers

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) said on Thursday, 30 July 2026, that a Marshall Islands flagged tanker loading crude at one of its floating terminals had been hit by a drone. The consortium said the resulting fire was contained and that no damage or casualties were recorded. Media reports said no oil spill was observed after the strike.
The same day, the commander of Ukraine's drone forces claimed that five Russian tankers had been struck in the Black Sea, a claim reported by Al Jazeera. Russia's TASS news agency said the Ukrainian drone attack had damaged port infrastructure in the Kuban region of southern Russia. Ukraine's General Staff separately reported long range strikes on the main oil refinery in the Perm region.
The CPC is one of the principal export routes for crude from Kazakhstan and southern Russia. Disruption there, alongside pressure on Russia's tanker fleet and ports, is among the factors that have fed into Urals crude and wheat prices in recent days.
