Agriculture minister says he has no information on when or how importers' 4 billion euro claim will be settled

Iran's minister of agriculture said on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, that he has no information on how or when importers' 4 billion euro claim will be settled, because the matter falls within the remit of the Plan and Budget Organisation.
Money owed to importers of basic goods and livestock feed has been one of the sticking points in foreign currency allocation in recent months, an issue that feeds directly into the animal feed supply chain and the cost of food.
On the same day, according to published reports, intervention by the Tehran prosecutor's office lifted a freeze on the account of a large importer, releasing 200,000 tonnes of livestock feed and basic goods that had been held up.
