Armenian PM: TRIPP Corridor Will Expand Trade With Iran, Responds to Tehran's Concern Over US Presence
10 July 2026 | 3 months ago
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Thursday, July 9, that implementation of the US brokered TRIPP corridor (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) will significantly expand trade and economic ties between Armenia and Iran and help establish a rail link between the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea. His remarks came a day after Iran's ambassador to Yerevan voiced concern about a potential US presence near Iran's borders under the project.
The Armenian government has assured Tehran that the project's implementation will not create any threat or challenge for Iran stemming from a US presence. TRIPP is a transit corridor through southern Armenia, brokered by the United States as part of the broader Armenia Azerbaijan peace process.
