24 September 2026 · 13 days ago
Brent crude returned to around $101 a barrel on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 (1 Mehr 1405), gaining more than 2 percent after five consecutive losing sessions, while West Texas Intermediate rose 1.53 percent to trade around $92. According to ArzDigital, the main driver was a jump in diesel prices and Donald Trump's remarks about possibly restricting US diesel exports to contain domestic prices.
EcoIran reported that Brent had earlier slipped to around $98 that day on news of talks on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, before rising to $102 on Wednesday evening. In Sahmino's data, Brent stood at about $102.3 on Thursday morning, 2 Mehr (08:00 Tehran time). Uncertainty over a formal agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz remains the main source of volatility in the oil market.
