CENTCOM says 30 ships have been re-routed since the naval blockade on Iran resumed
1 August 2026 | 3 months ago
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement reported early on Saturday 1 August 2026 (10 Mordad 1405) that it had re-routed 30 ships and taken two vessels out of service since the naval blockade on Iran resumed.
CENTCOM also said that, despite the blockade, it had allowed roughly 30 ships through to carry humanitarian aid. US officials have so far released no detail on the identity of the re-routed ships or the two vessels, and the figures have not been confirmed by independent sources.
The announcement came as the United States has increased its military presence in regional waters in recent weeks and the dispute over the safety of maritime traffic in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz continues. Any disruption on this route feeds into marine insurance rates, freight costs and global oil prices.
