Central Bank of Iran governor Abdolnaser Hemmati said on Monday, 12 October 2026 (20 Mehr 1405), at the seventieth session of the national cyberspace media headquarters, that $25 billion in foreign currency has been supplied for production since the start of this year and that the supply will continue. He said the growth trend of the dollar rate has turned downward thanks to central bank measures and will keep falling, while "the enemy" is trying to halt it with media shocks and fake news.
Hemmati also said liquidity has declined over the past three months and reported a fall in point-to-point inflation in Mehr, without giving a figure; the official statistic has not yet been published. He added there is no cause for concern over foreign exchange for essential goods, as the bank has made the necessary provisions.
For reference, the free-market dollar was about 262,905 tomans at 16:00 on Monday according to the TGJU quote tracked by Sahmino, 0.53 percent below Sunday's close. The $25 billion figure is the governor's own claim; no independent data confirming it has been published.
