China's September Export Growth Beats Expectations
14 October 2026 | 5 days ago
Chinese customs data for September 2026 show that exports grew faster year on year than analysts expected. Trading Economics and Arzdigital both pointed on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, to shipments of AI-related products, semiconductors and cars in explaining the result.
China's imports also rose from a year earlier that month, and its trade surplus widened. As a major buyer of Iranian oil and a large metals consumer, changes in Chinese demand and trade matter to commodity markets; this report alone does not show a change in China's imports of Iranian oil in September.
