Chinese stock markets closed higher on Monday, 27 July 2026 (5 Mordad 1405). According to the Xinhua news agency, the Shanghai Composite Index ended up 1.15 percent at 3,858.25 points and the Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.72 percent higher at 14,148.73 points.
The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's board for growth enterprises, gained 3.16 percent to close at 3,590.79 points, while the STAR Composite Index rose 2.49 percent to 1,989.31 points. The combined turnover of the Shanghai and Shenzhen markets reached 2.08 trillion yuan (about 306.3 billion US dollars) on the day, up from 1.94 trillion yuan in the previous trading session.
The biggest gains came in brain-computer interface, electronic chemicals and electronic components, while oil and gas exploration and services led the declines, on the same day that global crude prices fell sharply. China is the largest buyer of Iranian crude oil, so the direction of its equity and energy markets reaches Iran's economy through the channel of oil demand.
