FAO Global Food Price Index Hits Highest Level Since November 2022 in August
5 September 2026 | last month
The UN Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) Food Price Index rose to 133.3 points in August 2026, its highest level since November 2022. According to Ecoiran, intensifying climate risks and disruptions to global trade routes were cited as the main drivers of the increase.
A rise in the global food price index can raise the cost of importing staple goods for countries such as Iran and add to domestic food inflation.
