Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) said on Thursday, 30 July 2026, that gross domestic product grew 0.2 percent in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter, after adjustment for price, seasonal and calendar variations. First-quarter 2026 growth was also revised in the release, to 0.4 percent from 0.3 percent.
According to the office's provisional figures, exports rose in the second quarter compared with the previous quarter, while final consumption expenditure showed a subdued trend and capital formation declined. German gross domestic product at current prices was reported at 4,529.7 billion euros.
Germany is the largest economy in the euro area and its growth record is one of the inputs into the European Central Bank's interest rate decisions. The figure was published alongside euro area second-quarter growth of 0.4 percent, which had been announced earlier the same day.
