Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Parliament, said at the Majlis Coordination Council meeting on the morning of Tuesday 6 Mordad 1405 (28 July 2026) that the Seventh Development Plan must be revised, citing the Leader's emphasis on the need for such a review. He specified that the law will not be rewritten; instead the important items for amendment will be prioritised and revised with the help of the government, the Parliamentary Research Center and the relevant specialist commission.
The Speaker added that the amendments required for the 1405 budget law must likewise be prioritised, and stressed savings, creating revenue-generating opportunities, and giving priority to reconstruction. He said securing the livelihood of the public and of the armed forces is an important and urgent priority on the agenda of both the government and Parliament.
Ghalibaf also raised the option of passing some laws on a non-permanent basis, to run for a period of several years, and stressed closer cooperation with the Guardian Council. At the meeting, members raised issues including speeding up reconstruction of war damage, the situation of pensioners, foreign-currency provision, livestock feed supply and the state of petrol.
