Rodion Miroshnik, ambassador-at-large at Russia's foreign ministry, said on Tuesday 6 Mordad 1405 (28 July 2026) that Ukrainian armed forces have intensified their attacks on fuel facilities inside Russian territory.
According to the Russian official, between 20 and 26 July 2026 (29 Tir to 4 Mordad 1405), attacks by Ukrainian forces killed 57 civilians in Russia and wounded 435 people to varying degrees, and at least 7,195 projectiles and munitions were fired at civilian targets on Russian soil over the past seven days. These figures are the statement of one party to the conflict and no independent confirmation of them is available.
Russia is one of the world's largest exporters of crude oil and refined products, and disruption to its fuel infrastructure can feed through to the global products market.
