26 July 2026 · 2 months ago

Iran's gold and coin market fell across the board on Sunday, 26 July 2026 (4 Mordad 1405). According to Mehr News Agency, a gram of 18-carat gold dropped 535,108 tomans to 17,937,200 tomans, and a gram of 24-carat gold fell 713,715 tomans to 23,913,000 tomans. The Tehran mesghal quote also declined by 2,318,000 tomans to 77,700,000 tomans.

In the coin market, the new-design full Bahar Azadi coin fell 4,943,000 tomans to 180,500,000 tomans, while the old-design coin dropped 6,632,000 tomans to 175,500,000 tomans, a steeper fall than the new design. The half coin traded at 92,500,000 tomans, the quarter coin at 51,600,000 tomans and the gram coin at 27,000,000 tomans.

The domestic decline was far larger than the global move: the gold ounce slipped just 0.03 percent the same day, to $4,053. On Sahmino's price board as of 20:00 on Sunday, 4 Mordad, the open-market dollar was down 1.72 percent at 186,500 tomans, 18-carat gold was down 2.1 percent and the Emami coin down 1.65 percent. The retreat in the currency rate following the halt in US strikes has been cited as the main driver of the fall.
