Gold and silver funds close lower on Tuesday as money moves into fixed income funds

28 July 2026 · 2 months ago

Precious metals investment funds on the Tehran Stock Exchange fell in trading on Tuesday, 28 July 2026 (6 Mordad 1405). According to Tejarat News, about 80 percent of gold and silver funds ended the day in negative territory, and a modest rise in the dollar rate was not enough to keep the market positive; the report said a decline in global prices turned the sheet around. Tejarat News also reported that 970 billion tomans flowed into fixed income funds the same day.

Sahmino's own price data support that picture: the global gold ounce traded about 0.8 percent lower, around 4,045 dollars, during the same day, while the free market dollar stood at 190,200 tomans as of 19:59 on Tuesday, up 1.17 percent.

Unit prices of gold commodity funds are tied to the rial price of the metal, which is the product of the global ounce and the exchange rate. When a fall in the ounce outweighs a rise in the currency, the value of these funds' underlying assets declines. Global traders were meanwhile waiting for the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision on Wednesday.
