Gold Ends the Week at $3,997 an Ounce, Below $4,000, After a Weekly Fall of About 4%
Sahmino Newsroom | 24 October 2026 | 6 days ago
Sahmino's record shows gold's closing price on Friday, October 23, 2026 (1 Aban 1405) at $3,997 an ounce, against $4,167.77 on Friday, October 16, a fall of about 4.1% over the week. ArzDigital reported spot gold slipping to about $3,998 in Friday trading, below $4,000 for the first time since mid-July, and Boursenews said the metal was heading for its weakest weekly performance since June 2026.
Both reports blame rising oil prices and fears that inflation is returning, which lift expectations of higher US interest rates. ArzDigital added that a sell-off in tech stocks forced traders to sell other assets, including gold and silver, to raise cash. The market is waiting for the Federal Reserve's policy meeting on October 27 and 28 (5 and 6 Aban) and US personal consumption expenditure data.
