Gold Posts a Third Straight Gain as Oil Eases; Markets Look to Mid-Week US Inflation Data
12 October 2026 | 9 days ago
The global gold price rose to 4,200.68 dollars an ounce on Monday, 20 Mehr 1405 (12 October 2026), up 0.16 percent from the previous day and a third straight session of gains. A data provider reported that falling oil prices, on hopes that Russian diesel supply will ease, reduced inflation worries and helped gold.
Investors are waiting for key US inflation data this week for fresh clues on the Federal Reserve's next move: the September consumer price index is due on Wednesday, 22 Mehr (14 October), and the producer price index on Thursday, 23 Mehr (15 October). Meanwhile the renewed Houthi strike on Riyadh airport and Trump's consideration of joining Saudi Arabia have kept geopolitical risk alive.
Gold is down 2.29 percent over the past month and up 2.18 percent over the past year, and remains below its all-time high of 5,608.35 dollars in January 2026. The prices are based on contracts for difference. The global ounce is the base for gold and coin prices in the Tehran market.
