Gold Gains for a Second Straight Session, Edging Toward $4,200 an Ounce

Global gold rose in trading on Friday, October 9, 2026 (17 Mehr 1405) as the US dollar weakened and Treasury yields fell. According to ISNA, citing Reuters, spot gold gained 0.9 percent to $4,169.32 an ounce, while US gold futures also rose 0.9 percent to $4,194.40. Trading Economics likewise put gold at about $4,194, its second consecutive session of gains. The yield on the 10-year US Treasury note fell for a second straight trading day.
Among other precious metals, silver rose 1.1 percent to $60, platinum gained 2.2 percent to $1,670.15 and palladium added 2.1 percent to $1,146.98, though all three are on course for a weekly decline. According to the CME FedWatch tool, traders put the chance of a Fed rate hike at its October meeting at 18 percent and at its December meeting at 82 percent.
