The IAEA secretariat said its Board of Governors' quarterly meeting, with representatives of 35 member states, will open at 10 a.m. local time on Monday, September 7, 2026 (16 Shahrivar 1405) in Vienna and run through Friday. Per IRNA, cited by Donya-e-Eqtesad, "implementation of the NPT Safeguards Agreement and related provisions of Security Council resolutions" on Iran is among the meeting's agenda items. Director General Rafael Grossi will open the session and hold a press conference at midday Monday. Iran maintains that Security Council Resolution 2231 expired on its scheduled date last October (26 Mehr 1404) and that efforts to revive earlier resolutions against it lack legal basis.
