Iran Sets Nationwide Rent-Increase Cap at 25 Percent
11 July 2026 | 3 months ago
The heads of Iran's three branches of government set a nationwide cap of 25 percent on rent increases for renewed residential leases, effective from June 22, 2026 (1 Tir 1405), replacing previous province-set caps that had reached as high as 30 percent in some provinces. Under the decision, residential leases expiring before the end of the Iranian year (March 2027) will be renewed for one year with a rent increase capped at 25 percent if the tenant requests renewal, with exceptions such as the owner's personal need for the property or planned renovation.
