Habib Jahansaz, head of the Iran Tea Organization, said on Monday 27 July 2026, during a visit to warehouses and guaranteed purchase centres for green tea leaf, that tea production is forecast to rise more than 30 percent this year compared with last year.
He attributed the increase to a higher guaranteed purchase price for green leaf, capital and working capital loans provided through the Tea Development Support Fund, and favourable weather. Jahansaz said the guaranteed purchase price for grade one green tea leaf is up 72 percent and for grade two up 67 percent on the previous year.
He said the tea market is currently relatively stable and that, with further harvests ahead, stocks of Iranian tea are sufficient. He described the organisation's current priority as supplying the domestic market and raising the share of Iranian tea in household consumption. He did not comment on consumer tea prices.
