Iran's Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare has topped up the credit for the free food basket for malnourished children aged 5 to 59 months, and in this round the amount received per person rose 50 percent compared with the previous round. The new tranche was credited to the accounts of eligible household heads on Monday 3 August 2026 (12 Mordad 1405).
According to the report, the credit can be used from now at the network of shops contracted to the electronic food coupon scheme. The programme is run jointly by the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare and the Ministry of Health, and is aimed at helping meet the nutritional needs of children under five who are assessed by specialists as being at risk of malnutrition.
The credit is paid in non cash form and can be used only to buy specified goods. Eligible families do not need to apply in person, and the amount is charged automatically to the household head's electronic food coupon account. The increase for the month of Mordad was announced with reference to the significant rise in the prices of food and other essential goods.
