Iran's Energy Ministry said in a report carried by Mehr on Tuesday, 28 Mehr 1405 (October 20, 2026), that a new section of the national electricity grid control centre's dedicated communications network has entered service. Ardeshir Mazkoori, chief executive of Iran Grid Management Company, said equipment for the link was installed and brought online at seven stations.

The link strengthens data exchange between primary and backup grid control centres and supports the systems used to operate the power network. Mazkoori said shortages of suitable fibre-optic lines and communications equipment had delayed the section for years. The report concerns communications infrastructure, not an increase in electricity generation capacity.
