Shahid Rajaee Port Expands Rail Infrastructure to Raise Cargo Handling Capacity
20 October 2026 | 4 days ago
Hormozgan's ports director said in a report published Tuesday, 28 Mehr 1405 (October 20, 2026), that rail shipments of steel products, minerals and sulphur at Shahid Rajaee Port have grown. He said expanding the port's rail lines could bring cargo loading and unloading capacity to 13 million tonnes. That figure is projected capacity, not a volume already handled.
Better rail access matters for moving import and export cargo overland. Donya-e-Eqtesad's report did not give a date for the full capacity to enter service or today's actual cargo throughput.
