Mohammad Hadi Sobhanian, head of Iran's National Tax Administration, said on Wednesday, August 6, 2026 (15 Mordad 1405), according to Ecoiran citing Zoomit, in response to a question on whether social media bloggers are taxed: "Anyone active in the country will be subject to tax." He added that bloggers or artists whose income exceeds thresholds set for the arts sector are subject to taxation.
Sobhanian also said the tax on luxury vehicles and expensive homes, one of the tax bases approved in parliament's annual budget laws, remains in effect this year, with parliament setting the threshold for what counts as "expensive." He said the tax administration collects taxes based on information received from relevant authorities, and taxpayers can file objections regarding this matter.
