Japan Airlines reported that its net profit for the April to June period of the 2026 fiscal year fell 80.2% to 34 million dollars, according to a company statement carried on Monday, 3 August 2026. The carrier attributed the pressure on earnings to higher fuel prices linked to the war in West Asia.
Revenue for the three month period rose 11.2% to 5.9 billion dollars. International flight revenue increased 14.4% to 1.3 billion dollars, while domestic flight revenue climbed 3.6% to 886.1 million dollars. Chief Financial Officer Yuji Saito said costs had risen and that outbound travel was weaker than in the same period last year.
The airline is targeting a net profit of 701.3 million dollars for the fiscal year ending March 2027. The channel linking this report to Iranian markets is the price of jet fuel, which rose after the disruption to energy exports from the Persian Gulf and is now showing up in the earnings of Asian carriers.
