JPMorgan Chase Nears $1 Trillion Market Value, Could Become the First Bank to Reach the Milestone

10 September 2026 · 27 days ago

According to AzerNews, citing Bloomberg, JPMorgan Chase, the largest US bank, is nearing a $1 trillion market value and could become the first bank in history to reach that level. As of early September 2026 data, its market capitalization was estimated at about $953.33 billion.

A Bank of America analyst wrote that even at a $1 trillion valuation, JPMorgan shares would still trade at a relative discount to the broader market, since the 11 S&P 500 companies with market caps above $1 trillion, including Nvidia, Alphabet and Apple, carry notably higher price to earnings ratios than JPMorgan, which trades at around 15 times earnings. Per Bloomberg, none of the Wall Street analysts covering JPMorgan currently rate it a sell; 18 rate it a buy and 15 rate it a hold, but the average analyst price target of $375 suggests the bank reaching a $1 trillion market cap within the next 12 months is unlikely. Bank of America, with a market cap under $450 billion, is now the second largest US bank after JPMorgan.
