Kepler: 21 ships entered the Strait of Hormuz this week as 6 tankers departed
7 August 2026 | 2 months ago
According to Mehr News Agency, reported by both Ecoiran and Donya-e-Eqtesad, ship tracking firm Kepler said on Friday, 16 Mordad 1405 (7 August 2026), that 21 vessels entered the Strait of Hormuz this week while only 6 tankers left it. The Strait of Hormuz is the main route for Persian Gulf crude oil exports, and Kepler has previously published weekly data on shipping traffic through the waterway as one of the indicators of risk in the global oil market.
Sahmino has reported on Kepler's earlier weekly figures, which have shown traffic through the strait swinging sharply and repeatedly departing from its pre war pattern. Today's figures, with a marked gap between the number of vessels entering and leaving, once again underline that volatility.
