Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters: countries and companies drawing on Iran's assets will not be allowed through the Strait of Hormuz

The spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said on Tuesday 6 Mordad 1405 (28 July 2026) that any company or country receiving money drawn from Iran's assets will not be permitted to transit the Strait of Hormuz. It is the first time transit conditions have been tied explicitly to the question of Iran's blocked assets.
According to the same headquarters, the Strait of Hormuz remains closed and vessels may pass only along designated routes and under previously announced arrangements. The spokesperson had earlier stated that Iran would not allow the United States any role in managing the strait.
The headquarters also said that in the early hours of Monday 5 Mordad 1405 (27 July 2026) six commercial vessels switched off their navigation and positioning systems and attempted to pass through an unauthorised route in the south of the strait. One vessel was involved in an incident and the others were turned back towards the Persian Gulf. The Strait of Hormuz carries a large share of the world's seaborne oil and LNG, and any change in transit conditions feeds directly into marine insurance costs and freight rates.
