LNG Carriers Still Avoiding Strait of Hormuz Despite Resumed Oil Tanker Traffic
2 September 2026 | 2 months ago
Unlike oil tankers, whose transits through the Strait of Hormuz have increased, LNG carriers have still not resumed their route through the waterway. Donya-e-Eqtesad reported the halt has kept LNG prices near their highest levels of the military-tension period. Reuters, via gCaptain (September 2, 2026), reported Qatar and the UAE have carried out several ship-to-ship LNG cargo transfers outside the Strait of Hormuz in recent weeks to deliver cargoes to India and Japan, involving vessels including QatarEnergy's GasLog Shanghai and Savannah and ADNOC's Mraweh. Reuters reported Asian spot LNG prices at their highest level in five months.
